Which potato chips go best with chocolate?

For these sweet and salty potato chip brownies, you need a sturdy crisp that can stand up to the baking heat required for the recipe.

Try a thick chip with ridges, like Ruffles brand and you can’t go wrong.

FAQ

What are things I can make with leftover brownies?

Add leftover chunks to ice cream for an awesome treat!

Storage

Store these in a zippered or air-tight container for up to 5 days.

Why do my brownies get hard after baking?

There’s nothing worse than baking your brownies to find they’ve hardened!

To prevent hardening try to undertake them just a bit. Use a toothpick to check the middle.

How to soften brownies that go hard

If your brownies have hardened, simply wrap them in a moist paper towel and microwave for about 20 seconds.

The moisture will soften them back to their gooey goodness!

How to make thick brownies

First, choose the correct pan size for your desired brownie thickness.

Unlike cake, brownies do not rise much after baking.

If you prefer a thick brownie, bake in a smaller pan.

Note: you’ll likely have to extend your cooking times for thicker brownies.

Can I freeze brownies?

You can freeze brownies, but without the pretzels and chips.

What can I substitute for potato chips or pretzels?

  • Chex mix
  • Crispy bacon bit leftovers
chocolate with potato chips and pretzels

What can I substitute for the added chocolate bar?

  • Chocolate chips
  • Butterscotch/caramel baking chips
  • White chocolate
  • Candy bar pieces
  • Nuts
  • Coconut shavings
  • Marshmallows / graham crackers

What sides go with brownies?

  • Ice cream

How do I make brownie cookies?

Since these treats are perfect for parties, I’m often asked if you can make these brownies into cookies.

To make as a cookie, use the 18 oz brownie mix + 2 eggs + 1/2 cup of oil.

Add in other sweet/ salty ingredients.

Take a spoonful of mix and smush a pretzel on top to flatten like a cookie. Bake at 350 degrees for about 12 minutes.
